Unfortunately more and more AI is popping up in the crochet world. More trashy AI patterns, more AI pictures of fake crocheted creations and worst of all, more misleading AI listings for crochet items/patterns in online shops. They are pushing out real artists, demotivating crafters, scamming customers and overall just flooding the scene with low-quality slop.

This is an interesting article about the rise of AI in the crochet world, and why it's important to be aware of it:

Here's also a video about how to recognize AI for all things crochet, so you can protect yourself:

Stay safe and stay creative! ❤️

The #Framework Laptop 13 is a slightly unusual size and aspect ratio. So, instead of getting a case that "kind of" fits, I had one custom made from this great #Canadian artist from #Quebec on #Etsy who specializes in making things from kimono fabrics. This is my second one from them and the quality of both is excellent. If you are in the market for a new case, please give their shop a look:

🧵By #mending a cotton t-shirt instead of replacing it, you could help to save over 7.5kg in #CO2e. That would be equivalent to ironing for over 25 hours.

The days of being told that #repair isn't an important part of a garment's life cycle are gone. I hope this will also lead to a change in the way that repair is perceived in our society; as a skilled and valuable #craft that deserves to be invested in and as a powerful environmental and political act.

Hello!
Thank you for your attention to my first post and my first #craft :blobaww: And now to business. This is something like a small survey. Would you like such a #plant #bookmark for #books if you do not pay attention to the color (this is a test copy from the colors that I had)? It is made by #needlefelting 100% from nettle.

Coding is like taking a lump of clay and slowly working it into the thing you want it to become. It is this process, and your intimacy with the medium and the materials you’re shaping, that teaches you about what you’re making – its qualities, tolerances, and limits – even as you make it. You know the least about what you’re making the moment before you actually start making it. That’s when you think you know what you want to make. The process, which is an iterative one, is what leads you towards understanding what you actually want to make, whether you were aware of it or not at the beginning. Design is not merely about solving problems; it’s about discovering what the right problem to solve is and then solving it. Too often we fail not because we didn’t solve a problem well but because we solved the wrong problem.

When you skip the process of creation you trade the thing you could have learned to make for the simulacrum of the thing you thought you wanted to make. Being handed a baked and glazed artefact that approximates what you thought you wanted to make removes the very human element of discovery and learning that’s at the heart of any authentic practice of creation. Where you know everything about the thing you shaped into being from when it was just a lump of clay, you know nothing about the image of the thing you received for your penny from the vending machine.

It's really tricky to spread the word about events these days! I don't support corporate social media and you don't get read attention there anyway, mailing lists aren't what they once were, and this event wants to reach people across many patterny disciplines..

Any help spreading the word across all the strange pattern-obsessed communities much appreciated!
