Between #gardening and #pottery, I’ve found so much use for free wood scraps. There’s just so much scrap wood out there from felling trees, woodworking and shipping pallets. Just make sure the wood is untreated. I got these scraps from a local woodworker that I’ll use in my outdoor #rocketkiln and for backyard fires. Also got a bag of sawdust which I’ll use to saggar fire pottery and to add carbon to my #compost. 🧵

Trimmed a bunch of gaiwan lids (I re-threw them yesterday, the first round were small). Clearly made extras - but I wasn't sure what i'd like best.

Started on the teacups, but not happy about the size variation. Need to get better at measuring, or make myself a gauge.

1. Thur., I went to the funeral of the father of a childhood friend. It’s important to show up.
2. Fri., I spent Pi Day evening with my knitting group at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA for a Pi(zzas) & Pi(nts) fundraiser for Meals on Wheels. We ate, drank, and knitted.
3. Today, I spent a peaceful afternoon at the pottery studio, completely focused on trimming four mugs, making handles for them, and then putting the handles on.

Four mugs shortly after they were thrown on the pottery wheel. They are made from Brown Stoneware clay. This is what they looked like before I put the handles on. (I forgot to take a photo after handles!)

Made an important #pottery tool today. shrinkage rulers! Different clay bodies shrink when drying and being fired. So this ruler will shrink and you can use this ruler with a standard ruler and make good estimations about how your project will change.

i want to digitize some old #analog cassette tapes with my m1 macbook pro. I tried plugging the cassette player's aux cable into the laptop's headphone jack, but it wont detect the signal.

i don't know much about #mac or #audio #music recording. is there anyone out there who can explain what i'm doing wrong or point me to the adapter I need? : preferably not amazon

Trimming the gaiwan bowls, and realized the lids would be easier off the hump - which I've never done before, but it went great! Pic shows the last one, on a depleted hump.

Lids shown with the first of a (hopefully) matching set of tea cups. Maybe need saucers too? hmmm
