If anyone's interested here is the graph for CPU temperature when my new #OPNsense N100 router was running in the homelab cabinet rack vs when I just put a simple USB desk fan beside it to blow out the heat. A roughly 15C drop so the results will be much better hopefully when I get the proper cooling fans for the cabinet. PS The drop to zero is where I powered it off whilst tidying some other cables near by.

As my new #OPNsense N100 is in the rack because it's basically a large heat sink and it gets quite warm. The CPU is reporting 62-70 Celsius and I got it down to just 50C by pointing one of my wife's desktop USB small fans at it. So I've ordered a couple of 120mm USB powered fans with an airflow of about 100CFM. This will certainly drop the NUCs temperature and keep it low as this room the rack is in gets quite warm in the summer. I may even end up putting in some fans into the actual top of the cabinet too yet ? #HomeLab #FreeBSD #RunBSD
Well my new Intel N100 16Gb ram, 250Gb NVME is now online running #OPNsense . I didn't need to do any of the changes that Ben Tasker mentioned it just gave a full on 1GB PPPoE connection. Fingers crossed I have most things set up correctly ? I did notice a bug after updating though. Before I updated the system health graphs showed the correct date and times now it is showing me the 14th and 10PM UK time yet the systems is reporting the correct date and time plus time zone as I'm using NTP. Oh well no doubt it'll get fixed shortly.

[ EDIT - The issue is resolved ]
I just had to reset the RRD in the settings and wait just over a minute and now all the graphs under health are working as expected. 😄

Go to Reporting -> Settings
Click "Reset RRD Data"
Wait over 1 minute

[ It's decided, OPNsense is currently installing over pfSense! ]

So my Intel N100 quad core with 16Gb ram and a 256GB NVME drive and 4 x 2.5Gb ethernet ports has arrived with pfSense preinstalled but I'm thinking I'd be better off with #OPNsense installed instead?
Am I right as this is going to be my main router / firewall ? Feel free to comment and thank you.
No I'm not using #OpenWRT anymore sorry.

So there are these guys who install #Arch and use #vim or #emacs and they think they are powerful #Unix gods. One such being is me myself.

I never had to reboot my computer or close the terminal to quit #neovim

But last night, I was using my #FreeBSD machine. I thought I watch a movie so I installed #mpv and upon starting it, I could not quit. The solution was powering off and rebooting my machine. Devastating, isn't it?

So dear Arch users, or #Gentoo users who think they are really geeky geeks and very brave. Give #BSDs a try :)
