#Bukele posted a video on Sun of what he says is 238 members of Tren de Aragua arriving in #ElSalvador. He said they would be transferred to CECOT, the Terrorism Confinement Center in the country, for 1 year.

#MarcoRubio, #Trump’s secy of #State, last month said Bukele had agreed to accept deportees from the US of ANY NATIONALITY [including US #citizens]. Bukele's social media posts on Sun refer to "a very low fee" that the #US paid to El Salvador for the #deportations.

"Thanks to the great work of the Department of State, these heinous monsters were extracted & removed to El Salvador where they will no longer be able to pose any threat to the American People," #Trump WH press secy Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

"Ooopsie… too late," El Salvador's Pres Nayib #Bukele posted, in response to the judicial order.

#Trump deported >200 supposed members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan prison gang, to El Salvador this weekend, multiple members of the Trump admin said on social media on Sunday.

It was not immediately clear if the #deportations happened before or after a federal judge in DC on Sat issued an emergency order that told the admin to stop using wartime powers to #deport anyone, & turn around any planes already in the air.

"An NIH mural featuring Anthony Fauci was removed.

More systematically, it is also the removal of women, persons of color, and trans people, following executive orders around DEI and gender. Here, the removals signal the end one form of representation that valued inclusiveness and a broader understanding and acknowledgment of people whose stories were not always told."

"Right now, the federal government is engaged in a dramatic purging of visual representations of American history and its current workforce. Some of this is a Stalinist removal of former officials. The official portraits of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, and Trump Secretary of Defense Mark Esper are gone."

"For many years, the radicalization of the Right has consistently outpaced what even critical observers expected. Now the speed and scope of the authoritarian transformation and destruction of the system over the past two months have gone beyond what some of the most insightful observers thought likely."

@flexghost in a two party system, even the frequent losers of elections have nothing to gain from rocking the boat. There’s simply too much (dirty) money in US politics, so the #democraticparty will not change tack. Similar to #Trump dismantling the ‘old’ (and then very unpopular) #gop during the 2016 election cycle, the #dems need a #hurricane to blow away the current establishment. #BernieSanders tried in 2016, hopefully there will still be a choice to be made in #2028presidentialelection

#Trump is an idiot. #Science is what has made America great.

He’s unleashing ignorance and petty thinking.

“Harvard University is imposing a temporary freeze on hiring faculty. Columbia University is grappling with cuts to $400 million in federal funding. California Institute of Technology is leaving postdoctoral positions unfilled. A University of Washington researcher is wondering about a climate and health grant after a government site was taken offline.”

DoubleSpeak: "If you ask a National Park Service ranger how the Trump administration’s cost cutting will affect your next park visit, you might get talking points instead of a straight answer.

A series of emails sent late last month to front-line staff at parks across the country provided rangers with instructions on how to describe the highly publicized staff cuts. Park leaders further instructed staff to avoid the word “fired” and not blame closures on staffing levels.

On Feb. 14, at least 1,000 park service employees were terminated as part of broad reductions to the federal workforce by the Trump administration and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. As a result, visitor centers have reduced hours, tours of popular attractions have been canceled, lines have spiraled, bathrooms may go uncleaned, habitat restoration has ceased and water has gone unchecked for toxic algae.

Meanwhile, rangers have been ordered to describe these cuts — or “attrition” and “workforce management actions,” according to the talking points — as “prioritizing fiscal responsibility” and “staffing to meet the evolving needs of our visitors.” They also should tell visitors the parks will continue to ensure “memorable and meaningful experiences for all.”

If asked about limited offerings, one park’s rangers were instructed to say “we are not able to address park or program-level impacts at this time.”"

Airtel & Jio’s partnership with #Musk is surprising. Just before #Trump tariffs on April 2.

#Starlink has disrupted markets by offering cheaper internet than local providers, as in #Africa.

Jio Platforms saw Starlink as a major challenger.

Over the last two years, they sparred over how #India’s govt should allocate #satellite spectrum to internet service providers.”
