@dockers @maloki ugh :( Do you not make enough money to rent anything or is the debt that they look at?

@moiety @maloki its usually a combination of credit score and debt, but maybe they look at the debt cos my credit score is low? It should be improved in 6 months because I haven't applied for more credit in a long time and all my payments have been on time too, but its just luck! I've posted on facebook groups asking if there are any private landlords with properties as that may be scored differently. I'm just so stressed with this debt hanging over me

@moiety @maloki I'm paying £500 a month off it which is almost half my salary, I can't afford any more than that. But then almost £200 goes back on in interest, and I can't get a lower rate 😪

Does the UK/your municipality have programmes to help in these situations? I once raked up around nine grand of debt and they helped me pay it off with low interest. Still took me years but at least I wasn’t paying off interest only.

@moiety @maloki they do but it goes on a public register and basically blacklists you from everything for 5 years so it would be back to square one and nobody renting to us! If we could get a mortgage it would be half of what we pay now monthly for rent. The trouble is you need a deposit 🥲
