@Shrigglepuss *constructively* criticism though. And not just "constructive because I say it is." Like I don't think I can overstate how much of the emotional abuse that's been dumped on me has been masked as "constructive criticism" when it was mostly just opinions and hypocrisy and bullshit.

Calling your friend in on their racism is valid criticism. Refusing to enable your friend's bad habits, valid criticism. Giving them shit about their looks, not so much.

@Shrigglepuss And like I hate to be that girl who brings this up. But IME when you say "criticism is healthy!" the first thing a lot of edgy guys think is stuff like: "Oh, this means it's good when I aggressively call my girlfriend out on internalized misogyny that I myself exhibit all the time!"

No, guys, it isn't. Using criticism to assert power over others is abuse, full stop.

@kittypuffreloaded me too, but wanted to get to the meat of it on this one, I trust people here to take the details as given but these days you can't be totally sure *sigh*

@kittypuffreloaded I'm glad you added your bit, you did it more concisely than I'd manage =)
